MOSTDOPE

With all my film production, writing and volunteer work going on, I’m working on developing my own hiphop magazine – Mostdope. The hook? It’ll specialize in the German hiphop scene, Germany has a buzzing, vibrant urban scene that’s growing at a crazy rate: our hiphop and urban culture with a unique multicultural mix is truly an undiscovered gem.

If you’ve never been to Germany, you’re probably unfamiliar with it’s thriving hiphop scene. Prepare to be surprised. It definitely wouldn’t be alien territory to foreign rap listeners, especially American ones, since German rappers are pushing toward a distinguishable style that breaks the language barrier.
With Mostdope, we have set ourselves the goal to create a platform to exchange about Hip-Hop, to create a discourse with cultural added value, to put things into context, to bring music closer to the people and therefore to support diversity of opinion. No matter if mainstream or underground. But at the same time we want to leave ourselves the freedom to write and comment on what we think is interesting and valuable for culture and not be another promo channel that serves as an extended arm of labels or PR agencies. The editorial work is and will remain completely independent and autonomous

Motion-ID

Concept

Before diving   into the process, it’s important to understand exactly what a motion graphic is. Simply put, motion graphics are animated graphics that tell a story. Motion graphic stories can be told through kinetic text, animated images, or both. I start with the VOTE as call-to-action. With a CLICK it goes into the desired vote, where you can quickly make your choice with the up/down arrows. Finally, the CROWN is awarded to the winner. MOST/“CROWN“ is formed, which quickly transforms into the MOSTDOPE logo. The logo is already above the video clip (The video in the background serves only as a placeholder and can be replaced individually by current music videos). For the time frame of 5-7 seconds, I decided on fast transitions and a lot of dynamics in the animation. The focus remains in the middle of the picture. In the visualization I work with diagonals and deliberately abstract surfaces in order to concentrate attention on the essential. The pattern background gives the whole a subtle detail.

OUTRO-ANIMATION

One of the great challenges in the provision of video content is to keep the viewers attention – to stay tuned and not switch off.
The different contents of Mostdope must be visually combined. This visual bracket appears in the Motion-ID in the form of the lower-thirds and the on-screen-logo.
The animated cube-logo is placed in the bottom right corner next to the lower third on the left side.
It gives the brand a clean, dynamic and standardized design.

Quotations

The Top 10 counter serves on the one hand as an introduction to the topic of the then following video and on the other hand as a transition between the individual sequences ranking the subject items of the video in order. While the first counter defines the theme of the video, the second transition introduces places 9 to 1, switching back and fourth between the host presenting in the studio and the video sequences accompanied by an off-screen voice
